What Disney Owns.

The Walt Disney Corporation owns a large amount of companies. Ones that stick out to me are ESPN and ABC. Disney produces many products with the subsidiaries it has. It has Lucas Film, which is largely know for the Star Wars fame, ESPN and all of its subcatergories, many radio stations and lets not forget Disney Land and Disney World. These synergies produce a very great amount of profit for The Walt Disney Corporation. The produce a lot of core content persistently. Synergy is a good thing in the medias business structure. The biggest thing that a journalist can benefit from being apart of a huge corporation like this is access to many things.






Older Generation's view on Television



The impact television has had on the older generation’s lives is very heavy. This was the biggest source of media in that time period. They didn’t have internet so television was one of their only options. Their attitudes have not changed that much. Their generation is used to getting the news and entertainment from TV while my generation is accustom to using online resources.

New experiences my interview subject remembers the most was the terrorist attacks on the world trade center on September 11th. This shows how heavily important television is and how heavily it is consumed. The quality of news varies with the traditional networks vs. cable programs. Cable programs seem to be more biased and pick sides when events happen. They tell what they want to tell and how to tell it.



Magazines and Advertisements.

The magazines I read usually have a lot more ads than editorial content, stories, and other features. They do however have a lot of photographs.  I usually read skateboard magazines so the ads usually have a similar theme so they all kind of work well together. I do notice how the content is sometimes vulgar and crude when it is marketed to a younger audience.


These patterns mean that the ads in the magazine are based off of the content. Only skateboard products are advertised in the magazine. From skateboards, trucks, wheels, bearings, grip tape, skate videos, and online shops.  I would rather their not be so many ads in skateboard magazines. However, I like some of them because it keeps me updated on the new products.
