The radio station's in Nashville are diverse. Other radio stations that aren't in the top 5 have other genres they play. The country music stations are not in the top rankings because of the saturation of country music in Nashville. The only formats that are missing in the Nashville radio is a hardcore/punk station and an electronic station. This is probably because of underground following these genres have. If they were more mainstream then the radio stations might start playing this format for the radio listeners. Nashville's DIY punk, hardcore and metal scene is very big and is growing rapidly. The public would appreciate having that format available for them to listen to. However, with the option of online listening, the growing trend of vinyl records and having CDs makes up for the absence of the format. Online radio is obviously a huge competitor to the broadcasting industry. Being able to stream your own playlist that you have created is much more appealing than having a DJ tell you what you listen to. I think that this goes into play with the attitude that millenials have. We are independent and we like to have choices.
